RIVIS
At the continuous the village was on the left side of the river Tiliment (1186). Owing to the continuos floods, the inhabitants had to move to a higher and surer zone than the riverbed, where now the village is. As a remain of the ancient village, today there exists only the wonderful church (at present cemetery church) you can admire reaching the park of the Frog Feast on the riverside.
It is a church of the late 1400, dedicated to Saint Jerome. In the inside quite interesting frescoes of the XV century have been recently discovered. Outside the church, on the western façade, there is a huge figure of a Saint Cristopher with the Holy Child crossing the river.

Nearby we can’t forget to mention also an old water mill still functioning; it is one of the five mills which were under the jurisdiction of the Friulan noble and powerful family of the Savorgnan.
The village life still goes on following the religious calender and the major feasts are remembered in solemnity.

On May 5th, Saint Gotart, till a few years ago, the parish went around the village and blessed the animals which were outside the main gate of
the farm house. On the same day, the local pubs offered fried frogs, animals that could be easily found in the ditches in those days.
The fame of the frogs of Rivis went all around and a “vilote”, a Friulan song, started which was recovered by Valentin Ostermann in the middle of the XIX century.
